Last week:
1. We watched these videos on youth criminal laws and also critiqued the videos as a teaching tool. Groups of 3 worked on a video to pull out the legal content/terms and then look them up further in our text books or online. They presented this info in a web format and they also had to critique their videos as a teaching tool. (part of the media literacy skills embedded in the SS curriculum).
As we watched them over 3 blocks - students also made their own webs and added to the as students presented. This means each student should have 9 webs. I modelled the first one with the class on the white board - if you were absent, see if someone will share their notes from the first one.
Important - Why did we do this? Partly as an introduction to criminal laws and youth but also partly as this is an example of how I teach. I do not always tell you what you should "get" out of a lesson; I want you to be able to "pull" relevant content and skills from some activities and varied resources. Other times, I will be more explicit.
