Tuesday October 21 - in -class work

At the beginning of class you will hand in your Law and Order Questions (from Monday - posted earlier today)

Part I:  Class Blog group work:  30 minutes

Today the class will watch "Austin's Butterfly" as an example of how to give and receive feedback.  In your blog groups you will create your own "guide to feedback" that will be more Law 12 specific - these will be mini posters - your design.  To help you with this, you will also need to look at the blog rubric and the expectations and learning outcomes for your blogging.  Consider: What kind of feedback will help you and your fellow bloggers reach the "exceeding expectations" on the assessment rubric.  This means you may have to discuss your strengths and weaknesses as writers and bloggers.  It is also a good time to get to know each other in your blog groups so that you can best support each other.

Challenge - create the most detailed and useful mini - poster of guidelines for your group on paper.  Visuals count.

These can all be found on the class blog- time to make sure everyone knows how to find things on the class blog :)

Part II:  Text work - background reading and making meaning with graphic organizers.
              45 minutes
a) Read chapter 4 up to and including page 125.  Create a graphic organizer that shows the difference between the different types of offences (using the language of the law - Canadian and US)

b) Create a graphic organizer with your own examples to show your understanding of the elements of a crime that need to be proven for a conviction.  I am not looking for textbook definitions and examples but for you to create your own. (p126-128)

Part III:  Continue to read to the end of Chapter 4
You will need to have all of this completed by Thursday or you will be playing catch up during our in-class activity.
